Dorothy Bergman of Thief River Falls passed away peacefully on March 18, 2014 at the age of 97. She was able to leave this world from her own home, thanks to the efforts of her son, Doug and the Hospice of the Red River Valley. A Prayer Service for Dorothy will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, with Pastor Greg Schram officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. Interment will be held at a later date in Slayton, MN. Dorothy Jane (Foster) Bergman was born on September 18, 1916 in Ingomar, MT, to Frank and Agnes (Graf) Foster. The family moved back to Minnesota when Dorothy was four years old. They lived in several areas of Minnesota including Akeley, Fulda, and Balaton. Dorothy was married to Ken Bergman on April 10, 1941 in Slayton, MN. They farmed in the Avoca and Slayton areas until 1960, when they built Broadway Bowl in Slayton. Dorothy and Ken moved to Thief River Falls in 1967, where Ken managed the Family Bowl and Dorothy opened the 707 Beauty Shop. Both were avid bowlers and snowmobilers. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, JoEllen (Jason) Blixrud of Maple Lake, MN, and Sharon (Russ) Mobraaten of Billings, MT; son, Doug Bergman of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Jeff (Joyce) Lewis of Chisago City, MN, and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ken; son, David, and grandson, James. Many thanks to Hospice of the Red River Valley for their compassionate care.
