OBITUARY FOR DOROTHY FOURNIER

Dorothy Fournier, 72, died on Thursday, May 13, 2004 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee, MN with Father John Kleinwachter presiding. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery in Oklee, MN.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, May 17, 2004 at Johnson Funeral Service at Oklee, MN with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service on Monday evening and at the church for one hour prior to services on Tuesday.

Dorothy Newman was born on May 30, 1931 in Lancaster, MN, the daughter of Andrew Einer and Vina Ruth (Beck) Newman. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith and attended school in Lancaster, Hazel and Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls. Dorothy worked at Ben Franklin for a few years before her marriage.

Dorothy was united in marriage on June 14, 1951 to Donald Fournier in Thief River Falls. The couple made their home in Brooks. They operated the Corner Bar in Brooks for a couple of years, then they moved to Thief River Falls, where Don went to work on the railroad. They also lived in Hazel and Brooks before moving to Oklee in 1955. Together they ran a Dry Cleaning Business until 1957, when Don went to work for the United States Postal Service and Dorothy and Don bought their farm in Garnes Township, near Oklee, MN.

Dorothy was a Homemaker who enjoyed raising their five children. She also enjoyed going to garage sales, dancing, gardening, canning, sewing, reading, fishing and bowling. Don and Dorothy loved their summers at Leech Lake at their cabin.

She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary in Red Lake Falls.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Don of Oklee, MN; five children: Kathie (Terry) Roy of Sturgeon Lake, MN, James (Marie) Fournier of Moorhead, MN, Nancy (Randy) Magnell of Oklee, MN, Mark (Stephanie) Fournier of Sachse, TX and Karen (Dennis) Nelson of Frazee, MN; ten grandchildren: Shannon (Ryan) Hoffmann, Travis Roy, Trevor Roy, Craig (Michelle) Magnell, Troy Magnell, Isaac Magnell, Jennifer Magnell, Megan Fournier, Joshua Nelson and Tabitha Nelson; four great grandchildren: Natalie Hoffmann, Tanner, Ian and Brock Magnell; one brother, Nels (Marcia) Newman of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
