Obituary

Dorothy Myhre, 94, died Friday, July 22, 2011 at Riverview Health, Crookston, MN.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Plummer, MN with Rev. Jonathon Dodson officiating. Burial will follow in the Emardville Cemetery, Plummer, MN.
Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Plummer, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Dorothy Caroline Braaten was born August 18 1916 at Watertown, SD, the daughter of Marie Braaten. She attended school at Manvel, ND, graduating from high school in 1935.
On November 16, 1936, Dorothy was united in marriage to Sidney Arthur Myhre at Crookston, MN. The couple lived near Manvel, where they farmed. In 1944, they moved to a farm near Grand Forks, ND, then to the Brooks, MN area in 1954, where they continued to farm. She was a very hard worker on the farm. Dorothy moved to Hillcrest Senior Living, Red Lake Falls in April of 2010.
Dorothy was the cook at the Brooks School for several years. She made the best lefse in the county.   She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Plummer, MN and the Ladies Aid. She also attended bible study in Brooks. She also was a member of the Holly Hocks Homemakers Group and the Red Hats Society. Dorothy enjoyed playing cards, sewing, embroidery and bowling. Dorothy had a brother killed in WWII and was proud to be a gold star sister.
Dorothy is survived by children: Audrey (Derald) Carpenter, Aurora, MN, Shirley Wheaton, Bullhead City, AZ, Sydney (Barb) Myhre, Red Lake Falls, MN, Wes (Carolyn) Myhre, Brooks, MN, Larry (Judy) Myhre, Yucaipa, CA, Rodney (Charlene) Myhre, Thief River Falls, MN and David Myhre, Thief River Falls, MN; 27 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by parents, husband, 3 great grandsons, Kyle, Matthew, and Nicholas, half brother, Stanley Johnson, son-in-law, Chuck Wheaton and daughter-in-law, Lynn Myhre.
