Dorothy E. Olson passed away peacefully on Monday, October 17, 2016 at the Thief River Care Center at the age of 86.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Ale Tulu and Rev. John Golv officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery, New Solum Township, Marshall County, MN.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls.

Dorothy Elimire Gibeau was born March 8, 1930 the daughter of Leo and Josephine (Sourdif) Gibeau at home on the family farm near Argyle, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Stephen, MN. She attended school in Stephen, MN through the 6 ^th grade at which time the family moved to Davenport, IA and Dorothy finished the 8 ^th grade.

Dorothy was married to Erwin Cline. To that union were born two sons – David and Daniel.

On January 8, 1954, Dorothy was united in marriage to Alvin Olson in Davenport, IA. The couple made their home on a farm with Alvin's parents in New Solum Township, south of Newfolden, MN for about two years before moving to a farm just north of Thief River Falls; and in 1963 they moved back to the Olson Farm and spent the next 38 years.

Dorothy spent the years on the farm raising their children, gardening, canning, working in the hayfield, picking rocks, hauling wood and all of the hard work that went with life on the farm. When the last of the children made it to high school, Dorothy went to earn her G.E.D. She attended school to learn the art of Cake Decorating and also went to Cosmetology School. Dorothy owned and operated the "Pin Curl" where she loved to fix hair. She also was excellent at quilting, crocheting, sewing, embroidery and was a wonderful seamstress.

Dorothy was a very active volunteer at the Heritage Center in Thief River Falls and loved to play Bingo herself.

She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in New Solum Township and then in the early 1990's joined Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls where she has continued to be a member.

Survivors include four children, David (Lisa) Cline, of Florida, Daniel (Kathleen) Olson, Viking, MN, Art (Kay) Olson, Thief River Falls, MN, and Jennifer (Gary) Holmgren, St. Hilaire, MN; six grandchildren, Tricia (Darin) Lee, Grand Forks, ND, Timothy (Alisha) Olson, Newfolden, MN, Terry (Stacy) Olson, Thief River Falls, Douglas (Melissa) Cline, FL, Cory (Allison) Grochowski, Maryland, Kyle Grochowski, Brooklyn Center, MN; six step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eleven step great-grandchildren; aunt, Loretta Sourdif of Thief River Falls, MN sisters-in-law, Edith Gibeau of Milan, IL and Leona Neegard of Warren, MN; and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by husband, Alvin in 2001; parents; brothers, Leonard and Armond Gibeau; sister, Leona Healy; sister-in-law, Clarice Bren; step-grandson, Casey Holmgren.
