Dorothy Roese, 87, died on Sunday, April 22, 2007 at the Pioneer Nursing Home in Erskine, MN.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 26, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Jonathan Dodson officiating. Burial will follow in Emardville Cemetery, Emardville Township, Red Lake County, MN.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Dorothy Elizabeth Roese was born on March 16, 1920 in Belle Plaine, Iowa to Jesse and Emma (Walton) Neumann. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith in Iowa. She attended school in Iowa and Michigan. Then at the age of 10, she moved with her family to Red Lake Falls, MN.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Orval Richard Roese on April 9, 1942 in St. Hilaire, MN. The couple just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Dorothy and Orval lived on his family farm for their first year of marriage, then they lived in St. Paul, until 1946. In the fall of 1946 they moved to Plummer. Dorothy was a homemaker who raised six children. They lived on a farm east of Plummer until 1964. They moved to Thief River Falls for the next 20 years. They retired to Plummer in 1984.
Dorothy was an avid quilter and enjoyed quilting with the Immanuel Lutheran Ladies in Plummer. She also enjoyed reading. She had fun spending time with the Plummer Senior Citizens.
Survived by her husband Orval, Plummer, MN; 5 children: Emily (Joe) Watje, Templeton, CA; Betty (Darrel) Ausmus, Circle Pines, MN; Larry Roese, LaPuente, CA; Diana (Ken) Thomas, Fargo, ND; Judy (Aaron) Greer, West Fargo, ND; 10 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, son Don, 4 brothers: Fred, John, Don, Dick Neumann; 1 sister Nadine Carlson.
