Obituary

Douglas Edward Booth passed away unexpectedly on February 7, 2017, at Physicians Regional Hospital in Knoxville, Tn.

Douglas was born in Thief River Falls, MN. September 25, 1955 to Theodore and Shirley Booth. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church/Redeemer in Thief River Falls, MN. He graduated from Lincoln High school in 1974.  Douglas took a drafting class at the AVTI.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1976.

On December 30, 1978 Douglas married Tonia Larson.  They had two sons, Nicholas and Jonathan.

On March 22, 1991 Douglas married Julia Portrey in Sturgis , South Dakota. They were happily married for 25 years and 11 months.

Douglas enjoyed watching television and movies during his home time, especially his favorite, Ground Hog Day, working in the yard and relaxing by an outdoor fire.  He loved the water and had received a scuba diver's certificate.

Douglas is survived by his wife Julia of Enterprise, Alabama , h is children Nicholas (Carrie) Booth, Jonathan (Marie) Booth, Kelsey Booth, stepson Clifton (Stacie) Portrey, and step daughter Ashley Portrey . He is survived by his mother, Shirley Booth, brothers, Donald, Dennis (Sherry), Dean and sister, Brenda (Ray Tuinstra).

Grandchildren Ted, Dirk, Vance, Magnus and Miles Booth, Leanna White, Patience and Jillian Hall and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Douglas had a unique sense of humor and dancing eyes.  He is greatly missed by all of us.  His favorite job was doing what he did best from 1994-2017-driving big rigs.  He endured a difficult and sometimes lonely life providing for his family doing what he did best , driving semi-trucks.  Home was too seldom but always welcome.  When you see a big truck, in honor of Douglas, please remember to give them the c o urtesy they deserve.

Douglas was preceded in death by his father Theodore Booth and infant brother Roger.

A memorial service for Douglas will be held Saturday , March 25th at 11:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home in Thief River Falls, MN.
