Douglas Hoverson, 60, of Strathcona, MN, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Grace Evangelical Church in Strathcona, MN, with Pastor Curt Johnson and Pastor Tate Stephens officiating.  A private burial will take place at a later date.

Visitation will take place from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Grace Evangelical Church in Strathcona.  Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday at the church.

Douglas Gerald Hoverson was born on September 20, 1961 in Greenbush, MN, the son of Victor and Audrey (Trovaten) Hoverson.  As a young child, Doug's mother passed away.  Victor was remarried to Irene Loken who became his mom.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  Doug attended Greenbush Public School, graduating in 1979.

Following high school Doug worked various construction jobs and farmed with his father.  In later years he worked for area farmers, finishing his last years with Don Lunke Farms, rural Holt, MN.

His primary interest was dirt track racing which he followed with his cousin, Gary and other family members in the tri-state area and Arizona.  He had a love for ice fishing, hunting, local traveling, and BS'ing.  Doug especially enjoyed spending time with his nieces, nephews, friends, and family.  His main love was his dog and traveling partner, Buddy.

During the last five years his love for life continued as much as his body allowed, due to health conditions.  Due to the exceptional care of the Altru Cancer Center in Grand Forks, along with the support from local friends and family, Doug was able to continue doing what he loved.

Doug is survived by his brothers and sisters, Dean (Bernice) Loken of Seattle, WA, Dana (Jana) Loken of Perham, MN, Mary Swanson of East Bethel, MN, Connie (John) Stanislawski of Greenbush, MN, and Tom (Vicki) Hoverson of Strathcona, MN; aunt and Godmother, Jean Hoverson of Grand Forks, ND; aunts, Bernice Machovsky of Mitchell, SD and June Ledbury of Minot, ND; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
