Douglas Parr, 85, died Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Edgewood Vista, East Grand Forks, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM, Saturday, August 29, 2009 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Mentor, MN with Msgr. Roger Grundhaus presiding. Burial will be at First English Cemetery, Mentor, MN.

Visitation will be 6 " 8 PM, Friday, August 28, 2009 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Mentor, MN with a 8 PM prayer service at the church and for one hour prior to the service, Saturday.

Douglas Lee Parr was born May 27, 1924 at Drayton, ND, the son of Roy and Alice (Poole) Parr.

On January 28, 1946, Douglas was united in marriage to Loris Lindemoen in Oakwood, ND. They lived and worked in many northwestern areas in Minnesota and North Dakota, before retiring in Mentor, MN.

Douglas last worked for American Crystal Sugar in East Grand Forks, MN for many years.

Douglas was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mentor. He enjoyed raising horses and cattle, loved reading and story telling and keeping his car clean. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Douglas is survived by wife Loris, East Grand Forks, MN; 7 children: Carolyn (Ronald) Gauthier, Minneapolis, MN, Jane (James) McCann, Grand Forks, ND, Patricia (Roger) Juve, Lake Havasu City, AZ, Dennis (Pamella) Parr, Bismarck, ND, Dale (Constance) Parr, Moorhead, MN, Jennifer (James) Deitz, Grand Forks, ND and Nancy (Jerome) Schmit, Trail, MN; 18 grandchildren: Michele (Charles) Raeker, Jill (Jeffrey) Lilienthal, Jason (Nisa) Gauthier, Kim (Daniel) Lazur, Melanie McCann, Wade (Bobbi) Juve, Julie Stinnett, Brad (Leah) Juve, Michael (Kristie) Parr, Angela (Jared) Fettig, KaDee McKinnon, Cody (Nichole) Parr, Kari Jo (Gary) Jensen, Justin Deitz, Jeremy Deitz, Tonya (Nathan) Lizakowski, Casey Schmit and Ryley Schmit; 28 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Roland (Fay) Parr and Mark (Dana) Parr of FL.

He was preceded in death by grandson, Casey Parr; parents and sister, Donna Nicholas.
