Duane Scholin, 65, died on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 2:00 PM, at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with Reverend Gary Graff Officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Johnson Funeral Service on Tuesday.
Duane Dennis Scholin was born November 21, 1941 son of LeRoy and Irene (Schneider) Scholin in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Black River Church of rural St. Hilaire. Duane went to school at St. Hilaire Elementary in St. Hilaire and graduated from Lincoln High School. He was united in marriage to Carol Burdick. To this union two daughters were born, Duanna and Dawn. He later married Karen (Brown) Shockman.
Duane entered the United States Army on January 17, 1962, where he received the Good Conduct Medal, Wheel Driver Badge, Mechanic Badge, Letter of Appreciation Marksman, Pistol Marksman and Rifle Marksman. He was Honorably Discharged after serving his country for three years.
Duane dedicated his life to being a professional over-the-road truck driver. He was currently employed by Stan Koch and Sons Trucking.
Duane enjoyed hunting with his brother and he loved to play Yatzee. Duane also loved the outdoors, watching the birds and squirrels.
Duane is survived by special friend, Kay Postelwait of Perry, OK; mother Irene of Westminster, CO; three brothers, Orrin (Sharon) Scholin of San Angelo, TX, Ronald (Judy) Scholin of French Lyck, IN, and Robert (Lynda) Scholin of Thief River Falls, MN; one sister, Linda (Roger) Dyrdal of Westminster CO; two daughters, Duanna (Chris) Fike of King George, VA and Dawn (Brad) Swenson of Red Lake Falls, MN; 2 stepchildren, Tracy Shockman of Washington and Todd Shockman of Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Shelby, Kristina, Michaela, Travis, Alyssa, Rueben, Rena, and Bobbie Jo; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Scholin; wife Karen Scholin; one sister, Sharon (Val) Martinez, and grandparents, August and Gunver Scholin, Alvina Scholin, and Henry and Elizabeth Schneider.
