Obituary


Dwayne Arthur DeMarais was born February 13, 1941 at home in Mentor, MN the son of Leonard A. Nig and Dora M. (Bratton) DeMarais. He was baptized at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Mentor, MN on March 30, 1941 and confirmed in Red Lake Falls. Nig as Dwayne was affectionately called, attended elementary catholic school and Lafayette High Schools in Red Lake Falls.

On March 22, 1958, Dwayne entered into service with the United States Marine Corps. He served as a military police officer mainly at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and in Korea and was honorably discharged on March 21, 1962.

In August of 1962, he was united in marriage to Linda Roggie in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Following military service, Nig went to work with Gerald N. Evenson Trucking, based out of Pelican Rapids, MN as an over-the-road driver. He drove for Gerald Evenson with the truck that was leased to International Transport until 1980, when he bought his own truck and continued with International Transport out of Rochester, MN. International Transport changed names to Schneider Specialized based out of Green Bay, WI. In 2001, Schneider Specialized dropped their flatbed division and Dwayne then leased on with Evenson Brothers, Inc., in Pelican Rapids. All the while making his home in Pelican Rapids.

Nig enjoyed shopping and watching movies, but was happiest driving his Peterbilt Truck and visiting family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel DeMarais, Apple Valley, MN and Mitchell (Lisa) DeMarais, Albertville, MN; two grandchildren, Bailey and Addison; four brothers, Ben Camp, Tucson, AZ, Russell (Sue) DeMarais, Twin Valley, MN, Tony (Karen) DeMarais, Fargo, ND, and Terry DeMarais, Brooks, MN; three sisters, Carole (Barry) Baertlein, Canby, OR, Mary (Terry) Lundon, Crookston, MN, and Donna (Michael) Parenteau, Walla Walla, WA; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents and one brother, Leonard.

Dwayne A. DeMarais, 61, died Friday, December 13, 2002 in Denison, Texas at the age of 61 years and 10 months. May his memory be blessed.
