Obituary

Dwight Ortloff, 61, died on Monday, August 31, 2009 at Triumph Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 4, 2009 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Mark Helgeland officiating. Burial will be in Landstad Cemetery, rural Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday evening at the Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a 8:00 P.M. prayer service on Thursday evening and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Dwight Ortloff was born March 10, 1948 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Raymond and Grace (Sevre) Ortloff. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Dwight attended Northrup and Knox Elementary schools and is a graduate of Lincoln High School, Thief River Falls.

On May 30, 1970, Dwight was united in marriage to Irene Dondoneau. To this union four children were born: Baby Ortloff, Karla, Karmen and Christopher.

In his early years, he was an Alaskan fire jumper and then worked for Arctic Cat, where he raced for Team Arctic. Dwight owned and operated D&I Catering from 1973-1978. He worked in the oil fields and then became an over the road trucker.

He later married Anita Puppe.

Dwight liked racing snowmobiles as well as fixing them. He would go to snowmobile races and also enjoyed fishing and playing cards. He was an excellent cook and baker and he loved visiting over a cup of coffee.

He is survived by children: Karla Ortloff, St. Paul, MN, Karmen Ortloff, Chicago, IL and Christopher (Danielle Mattessich) Ortloff, Minneapolis, MN; brothers and sisters: Barbara (Don) Johnson, Julie Skelton, Heidi (Monte) Casavan, Wayne Ortloff, Jodi (Doug) Disterhaupt and Kristie Hodgson along with nieces and nephews.

Dwight was preceded in death by and infant son, Baby Ortloff; parents, Grace and Raymond Ortloff; and brother-in-law, Sheldon Hodgson.
