Obituary



Earl Tyler Berg, 76, of rural Red Lake Falls, MN died on Friday, January 19, 2001 at his home near Red Lake Falls. Arrangements with Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2001 at St. John Lutheran Church, 1:30 PM in Red Lake Falls, MN with Reverend Jeffrey S. Lytle Officiating. Burial will be held in the spring at Oak Grove Cemetery in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held one half hour prior to services at the church on Sunday.

Earl Tyler Berg was born April 19, 1924 at Roome Township, Polk County, MN son of Thorvald and Karen (Bjornrud) Berg. He was Baptized and Confirmed at Sand Hill Lutheran Church rural Eldrid, MN. He was raised there and attended School graduating from Climax High School in 1942. Earl entered the US Marines on July 15, 1942 and served over seas being honorable discharged on October 27, 1945. He then joined the US Army on November 12, 1952 and served in the Korean War until his honorable discharge in July 8, 1952. Earl has been married to Sylvia Rawerts of rural Red Lake Falls for 46 years. The couple lived in St. Paul, MN where he worked construction. They returned to the Rawerts home farm in 1985 where they have since resided. Earl enjoyed repairing sewing machines.
He was a life member of the Crookston VFW #1902, AFRAN of Red Lake Falls, MN, St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN and St. Stephanus Church in St. Paul for 35 years serving as elder for 15 years, served on the Concordia Academy School Board in Roseville for many years and always enjoyed to travel.
Earl is survived by his wife Sylvia of rural Red Lake Falls, MN; son Earl (Joan) Berg Jr. of White Bear Lake, MN and Karen (Ed) Ohlrogge-Carlson of St. Paul, MN: grandchildren Jason Berg, Jeanine Berg, Laura Ohlrogge, Melinda Ohlrogge, Lisa Ohlrogge: one brother Ralph Berg of St. Paul Park, MN; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son Michael Berg in 1991: brothers and sisters Laura Boness, Anna Winger, Hazel Winger, Mamie Johnson, Haibert Berg, Telbert Berg, Gina Berg, Alton Berg, Lawrence Berg, Belva Overgaard, Merlin Berg, Marion Berg, Myrtle Berg.
