A Graveside Service will be held at 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Ekelund Lutheran Cemetery, rural Goodridge, MN.
Following the Graveside Service, please join our family at the Marquis Farms for a Celebration of Earls life.
Earl George Marquis Sr., was born on September 13, 1921 in Siren, WI, the son of Herbert and Ada (VanDelander) Marquis. He attended school at Erie County School, in Erie, MN.
Earl served his country in the United States Army during WWII in the Philippines and Korea, from October 1944 thru July 1946.
Earl was united in marriage to Angie Race on November 29, 1944. They made their home in the Goodridge area. In 1946 started farming until his retirement.
Prior to farming, Earl traveled the trains by boxcar to California and worked in a fruit cannery when he was 17. He also worked in the potato fields with Angie, he tossed the full gunny sack bags into the trucks.
Earl's hobbies and interests included spending time at their second home in Arizona for many years, traveling, dancing, fixing anything, card playing, and motorcycling in the desert. He loved and enjoyed spending time with family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Earl is survived by his wife Angie Marquis of Thief River Falls, MN; children Lemay Moe of Thief River Falls, MN, Monica (Jim) Roach of Arizona, Monte Marquis of Hawley, MN, Meade Marquis (Vickie Halsa) of Thief River Falls, MN, Marla Marquis (Mike Stein) of New Hope, MN, and Earl (Penny) Marquis Jr. of Goodridge, MN; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren and 23 step great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Willa Prestegaard of Thief River Falls, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his 8 siblings and his beloved daughter Monna Solberg.
The family requests no flowers or memorials please.
