Obituary

Ed Wold, 60, of Gatzke, MN died Saturday, July 31, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.


Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at United Lutheran Church in Gatzke, MN with Rev. Mary Gilthvedt officiating. Burial will follow at Moose River Cemetery in Gatzke, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Friday, August 6, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Saturday at the church.

Edward Joseph Wold was born on October 12, 1949 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Vernon Leroy and Jean Burnette (Wood) Wold. He was baptized on August 16, 1950 at the Evangelical Free Church in Thief River Falls and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. He attended St. Hilaire Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.

Ed then went to school in Crookston for auto body and accounting. In 1970, Ed married Patricia Olson and to this union two children were born, Shane Michael and Danielle Janine. In 1971 he started working at Boise Cascade/Office Max/Willamette and Weyerhauser, retiring in April 2005 after 34 years as Production Supervisor.

On November 25, 1989 Ed was united in marriage to Nadine Lois Aune at United Lutheran Church in Gatzke, MN. Nadine brought her son, Ryan to this relationship. They made their home in Spring Lake Park, MN for the next 18 years. In September 2005 they moved to rural Gatzke, MN to the Aune family homestead, where they have continued to reside.

In 2005 Ed started a carpet cleaning business which he called Carpet Care & More . In 2006 Ed Tinker along with his family began a major renovation of the farm, which they completed in 2009 with great pride. In 2007 he became a crop adjustor for Rural Community Insurance Company where he was still employed.

Ed enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, auto body, woodworking, farming his deer plots, going for rides looking for deer and at crops, going for walks with his best friend Ava explaining animal footprints, tinkering, and smelling the fresh country air.

He was a member of United Lutheran Church in Gatzke, Grygla Lions Club and the Fourtown-Grygla Sportsmans Club.

Survivors include his loving wife of 20 years, Nadine of Gatzke; Shane Michael Wold of Oak Grove, MN, Danielle Janine Wold of Albuquerque, NM, and Ryan Chris (Amy) Sorvig of Grygla, MN; grandchildren, Briana Marie Wold, Ava Rae Sorvig and Gavin James Wold; mother, Jean Burnette Wold of Thief River Falls, MN; brother and sisters, Kathy Hoefer of Ocala, FL, Barbara (Allan) Black of St. Hilaire, Sandra (Tom) Ratliff of St. Hilaire, Lee (Kathy) Wold of Red Lake Falls, and Sonia (Myron) Iverson of Thief River Falls; mother-in-law, Hazel Aune of Grygla; sisters-in-law, Jaylene Aune of St. Paul, MN, Sharon (Greg) Harris of Thief River Falls, and Carole Aune of Grygla; and many other relatives and friends.

Ed is preceded in death by his father, Vernon Wold; father-in-law, Juel M. Aune; brothers-in-law, Dennis Mills and Lloyd Hoefer; grandparents, Adolph & Octavia Wold and Henry & Cora Wood.
