Edmund Kostrzewski, 92 of Thief River Falls, MN formerly of Strandquist, MN passed away on Monday, August 24, 2015 at Valley Elder Care in Grand Forks, ND. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Karlstad with Father Lu Officiating. Burial will be held at St. Edward's Catholic Cemetery at Strandquist, MN. Visitation will be held Friday, August 28, 2015 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM with 7:00 PM Prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Edmund Timothy Kostrzewski was born October 9, 1922 at Nelson Park Township near Florian, MN son of the late Martin and Rose (Kulpinski) Kostrzewski. He was baptized and confirmed at Florian. He attended Englund Country School in Nelson Park Township. On June 5, 1943 he was united in marriage to Maxine Johnson. The couple lived near Florian where he worked for Art Carlson until he went to work at the Air Force Base in Grand Forks. In 1950 he went to work for Elmer C. Johnson, and in 1958 he started working for Dean L. Witcher of Minneapolis where he continued for 25 years. Edmund retired in 1979 and he continued to farm and restore International tractors. Maxine passed away in 1981. On November 1, 1986 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Hanson at Thief River Falls, MN. The couple moved to Thief River Falls four years ago and has resided here since. Edmund was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church, and the US Carpenters Union, Eagles in Thief River Falls, MN. He enjoyed attending auction sales, buying and selling old tractors, camping and fishing, deer hunting, playing cards, and most of all he loved spending time on his farm. Edmund is survived by his wife Evelyn of Thief River Falls, MN; children Clyde (companion Kathleen Christofferson) Kostrzewski of Middle River, MN; Luella (Ron) Long of Apache Junction, AZ, Lorraine (Neil) Anderson of Roseau, MN, Bev (Jerry) Rux of Strandquist, MN, Edmund Kostrzewski Jr. of Louisville, KY, Mary (Roger) Hill of Montevideo, MN, Tina Kostrzewski of Goodridge, MN, Darryl (Sue) Hanson of Thief River Falls, MN, Michael (Kathy) Hanson of Chippewa Falls, WI, Doug Koelfgen of Albertville, MN, Roxanne Herzog of Conifer, CO and Dawn Edlund of Thief River Falls, MN: 31 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Angeline Kostrzewski of Warren, MN, Blanche Kostrzewski of Florian, MN and Agnes Johnson of Warren, MN; along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Maxine, parents, daughters Jane Kostrzewski and Loretta Kostrzewski, siblings Edward, Steve, Raymond, Stanley, Peter and Walter Kostrzewski, Cecilia Landerville and Gertrude Jorgenson; step daughter Cynthia Koelfgen and grandsons Brent Donarski, Christopher Todd Collins, Jeremy Kostrzewski, Steve Smith and David Drogemuller.
