Edna Irene McEnelly died on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at her home in Pioneer Court in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Voelker, Ph. D, officiating. Burial will be held in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday.

Edna Irene Halvorson was born in Brown County, MN near Hanska, MN to Oscar Theodore and Lena Marie (Larson) Halvorson. She was baptized in Brown County. As a young girl she moved with her family to Highlanding Township, Pennington County, MN. She attended rural schools in Brown and Pennington County. She was confirmed in Ekelund Lutheran Church, rural Goodridge, MN.

Edna was united in marriage to Roy A. McEnelly on September 26, 1928 at her family home. They made their home in rural Goodridge, MN. She lived there until 1960 when she moved to Thief River Falls, MN. Edna worked as a nurses aid at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls, retiring in 1981.

Edna was a member and held offices in several organizations including the Eagles Auxiliary, Sons of Norway, and the VFW Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Noon Lioness. She was a former member of the Rosendahl Lutheran Church and then Trinity Lutheran Church.

Edna had a lively interest in politics and kept up on the current events. She enjoyed visiting all of her friends and the family pets. Edna enjoyed traveling around the USA.

She is survived by four daughters: Colleen Holen, Delores Johnsrud, Marlys Parker, Sharon Smith, 15 grandchildren: LaVonne Adams, Sandra Johnson, Michael Holen, Gayle Dahlen, Mavis Paulson, Loren Holen, Mark Holen, James Johnsrud, Vicki Austad, Gerald Johnsrud, Kathy Haugen, Deborah Derouin, Karen Huhn, Andrew Green, Tanya Altimari, 25 great grandchildren: Michelle, Stacy, Chad, Heidi, Ian, Alec, Barrett, Tyler, Kaley, Madison, Trisha, Chase, Crystelle, Andrea, Kjell, Carissa, Bradley, Clifton, Jared, Jeremy, Patricia, Connor, Garrett, Michael, Nicholas, 12 great great grandchildren: Caleb, Emily, Kane, Emily, Ivan, Jordynn, Donald, Jennings, Landon, Carter Lee, Sophia, Elliot, and several cousins in Southern Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy in 1957.
