Obituary

Edward Mozinski, 95, died on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Kittson Memorial Nursing Home in Hallock, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Burial will follow at St. Bernards Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Military honors will be provided by the Ecklund-Holmstrom American Legion Post #117 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2793.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM on Wednesday at the church.

Edward Hubert Mozinski was born on November 3, 1915 at home on the family farm near Warsaw, ND the son of Frank and Martha (Glanner) Mozinski.

He was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Warsaw, ND. Edward attended country school near Warsaw. When Edward was 8 years old his dad died and later his mother, Martha was married to a gentleman by the name of Anton and he became an important part of Edwards life. Edward helped out on the family farm and also worked out for area farmers.

Edward worked in the CCC Camps in North Dakota. He entered into service with the United States Army on June 29, 1942 at Ft. Snelling, MN. Edward served as a combat infantryman specializing in mortar and he attained the rank of Sgt. He served in the Normandy Campaign, Northern France Campaign and Rhineland Campaign. Edward was decorated with the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon, three Bronze Campaign Stars, Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge and Good Conduct Ribbon. He was Honorably Discharged on February 19, 1945.

On May 4, 1946 Edward was united in marriage to Rosalie Helmoski in Warsaw, ND and they made their home in Grafton, ND. In the early 1950s the couple purchased a farm near Viking, MN. Throughout the years, they worked hard on their farm and at the same time loved life on the farm.

Eventually they moved to Thief River Falls where they have continued to live. In 2006, Edward moved to the Kittson County Memorial Nursing Home where he has continued to reside.

Edward was a member of St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion Posts in Thief River Falls. Edward would like his family and friends to remember him for all of the good things in life. Rosalie remembers him as a good man and good husband, and he provided her with her faithful companion, Ringo.

Edward is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Rosalie of Thief River Falls, MN and they are parents to three children, Mark (Martha) Mozinski of Savannah, MO, Bonnie (Jim) Swan of Orlando, FL and Larry (special friend, Heather) Mozinski of Winnipeg, Manitoba; grandsons, Christopher Mozinski and Robert Greevers; great-granddaughter, Amber Greevers; sister, Irene Kostrzewski of Thief River Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gertrude Stoltman and Isabel Dietrich; and brother, Stanley Mozinski.
