Goodridge, MN, age 86, died Friday, July 12, 2013 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND with his loving family at his side. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Ekelund Lutheran Church, rural Goodridge, MN with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will be held at the Czech National Cemetery, rural Goodridge, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Monday, July 15, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 until 10:30 AM on Tuesday at Ekelund Lutheran Church. Edward Lloyd Stucy was born on May 15, 1927 at home on the family farm in Hickory Township, Pennington County, MN the son of Edward and Lillian (Windelshafer) Stucy. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Star Township, Pennington County, MN. Edward attended District 56 Country School in Star Township. Eddie stayed home to work with his Dad on the family farm. On January 31, 1953, Eddie was united in marriage to Lauretta Cullen at the St. Bernard's Catholic Church Rectory in Thief River Falls, MN. They made their home on the Stucy family farm in Hickory Township and to this union two children were born, Norma and Ronald. Together they raised small grains and dairy and beef cattle. Eddie was a member of Ekelund Lutheran Church, rural Goodridge, MN where he served on the congregational and parish councils. He was a very active member of the National Farmers Organization where he served as Chairman of Pennington County NFO; he was also a member of the Minnesota Farmers Union, and served on Pennington County FHA Board. Edward and Lauretta were awarded the 2001 Pennington County Farm Family of the Year and were honored for their contributions to the history of the Goodridge Community from the Goodridge Area Historical Society in 2005. FAITH, FAMILY, FRIENDS, FARMING, & HONESTY best describe Edward Stucy. Farming was his life. Edward and Lauretta were the proud owners of the Stucy Century Farm. He especially enjoyed developing and ditching land. Eddie enjoyed snowmobiling, farming, 4-wheeling, spending time at Hilary Stoltman's cabin at Fourtown, and enjoyed traveling to visit his niece's fish camp at Olga Bay on Kodiak Island, Alaska to visit family. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Lauretta; children, Norma (Gary) Johnson and Ron Stucy all of Goodridge, MN; grandchildren, Jeremy (Jennifer) Johnson, Joanna (Jay) Asp, Kylie (fiancé, Mark Haugen) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Chelsey, Brayden, and Josie; sister, Mildred Hovet of Thief River Falls, MN; nieces, Darlene Omlid and Fern Myhre; and many other relatives and friends. Eddie is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Arvilla (Bill) Ondick; brothers-in-law, Leonard Merritt and Henry Hovet; and grandson, Chad Johnson.
