Obituary


Edwin John Anderson was born July 16, 1908 in Holt Township, north of Thief River Falls, MN, to the late Carl Ludvig and Anna (Jansdotter) Anderson, who were Swedish Immigrants. He was the first of his family to be born in America. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith. Edwin grew up, attended rural school and worked the family farm. In 1925, he went to work in North Dakota farming and working road construction.

On June 6, 1934, Edwin was united in marriage to Mabel Moe at Satersdal Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Falls, MN. The couple lived on their farm in Agder Township where they farmed throughout the years. Edwin worked on construction of the Alaska Highway and many of the area roads. Eventually they sold the farm to their sons, Steven, John, and Charles and Edwin continued to work with them. In 1996, they moved to Bemidji, MN, to be closer to family.

Edwin was a member of Silver Creek Lutheran Church. He enjoyed gardening and deer hunting. Edwin and Mabel took care of Satersdal Church yard and cemetery for many years.

Survivors include children: Shirley (Ronald) Osborne, Moose Lake, MN, Mary Anne (Donald) Norum, Bemidji, MN, John (Carolyn) Anderson, Stillwater, MN, Charles (SuAnne) Anderson, Alexandria, MN and Steven (Ginny) Anderson, Grand Marias, MN; 14 grandchildren: Susan Borgos, Carla Moser, John Anderson Jr., Robert Anderson, Becky Sprenger, Jeremy Anderson, Jay Osborne, Sharlene Killorin, Bill Osborne, Dr. Tom Osborne, Laurie Snively, Lynne Schon, Greg Norum and Scott Norum; 31 great grandchildren; sisters, Carrie Lunke, Milaca, MN and Gladys Gillespie, Prescott, AZ and a brother, Levin (Dorothy) Anderson, Pine River, MN.

He was preceded in death by wife Mabel on November 6, 1999, 2 grandchildren: Tammy Sue Anderson and Cory Anderson and 2 brothers, Carl and Ragnar.

Edwin Anderson died Saturday, July 6, 2002 at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji, MN at the age of 93 years, 11 months and 20 days. May his memory be blessed
