Edwin Sjulstad, 92, died Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Lifecare Medical Center, Roseau, MN.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Monday, November 23, 2009 at Ekelund Lutheran Church, Goodridge, MN with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will be at Star Cemetery, Goodridge, MN.

Visitation will be on Sunday, November 22, 2009 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM with a prayer service at 5:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.

Edwin Emanuel Sjulstad was born in Star Township in Pennington County on March 2, 1917. He was the son of Even and Ingaborg (Dahle) Sjulestad. Edwin was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He grew up and attended school in District number 5 in Star Township.

On June 15, 1947 he married Marion Wells in the Riener Lutheran Free Church. Edwin and Marion continued to farm on the family farm. In 1956 they rented out the farm, and in 1958 they put the farm in the Soil Bank. For five years, Edwin worked in the underground iron mines on the Iron Range.
In 1962 he began farming again. In 1973 Edwin and Marion sold the farm and they moved to Thief River Falls.

Edwin got a job driving a Standard Oil delivery truck which he drove until 1987, and then retired. Marion passed away on October 9, 1990. Edwin remained in Thief River Falls until November 1, 2009. At this time, Edwin moved in with his son, Ivan Sjulstad. On November 19, 2009, Edwin died at the Life Care Center in Roseau, MN.

Edwin is survived by one daughter, Lynette (special friend, Joseph Blake) Eychaner of Thief River Falls; one son, Ivan (Betty) Sjulstad of Roseau, MN; six grandchildren, Julene Simone , Anthony, Elmer III, Jennifer, Matthew and Vyetta; nine great-grandchildren, Spencer, Siawn, Mason, Jasmine, Justice, Levi, Noah, Rylee, and Brady; sister, Gertie Elg of Thief River Falls, MN; brother, Swen (Bonnie) Sjulestad of Arizona; sister-in-law, Irene Sjulestad of Arizona; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by wife, Marion on October 9, 1990; daughter, Vineta Marie Sjulstad; brothers and sister, Signe Miller, Robert Sjulestad and, Gerald Sjulestad; son-in-law, Elmer Eychaner; and brother-in-law, Carl Elg.
