Elaine Leanore Austinson, 95, of Thief River Falls, MN, died on Monday, June 28, 2021, at Kittson Health Care, Hallock, MN.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Johnson Funeral Chapel, Thief River Falls, MN, with Pastor Terri Cuppett Officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Elaine was born on November 21, 1925, to Charlie and Minnie (Anderson) Johnson at home in Pennington County, MN.  She was baptized and confirmed at Rindal Lutheran Church, rural Newfolden, MN.  Elaine attended a country school near her home.  Following school, she worked at many jobs before retiring in 1993 from Northwest Hospital after 28 years of service.

On April 5, 1973, Elaine was united in marriage to Arnold Austinson at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN.  She lived on the farm until one year after Arnold's death in 1997.  Elaine moved to her home in Thief River Falls and later went to the Skylite Apartments in Thief River Falls.

Elaine enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, knitting, and sewing.  Family was very important to Elaine as she cared for their needs and wants.  Practical and independent describes her lifestyle, which allowed her to care for herself and others.

She is survived by siblings: Mavis Langaas, Thief River Falls, Lillian Rux, Thief River Falls, Glorianne Weflen, Dickinson, ND, and Eldo Johnson, New Town, ND; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold, parents, Charlie and Minnie, siblings: Cora Ranstrom, Lavern Johnson, Dewaine Johnson, and Annette Larson, and several nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations and gifts should be given to Trinity Lutheran Church radio and television funds or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
