Elaine Miller, age 70, of Thief River Falls, MN died peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 31, 2015. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 5, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with Rev. John Golv officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Lutheran Cemetery, rural Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday at the funeral home. Elaine Marie Miller was born August 23, 1944 in Norden township of Pennington county, MN. The daughter of Henry and Ida Ordahl (Brateng). She was baptized and confirmed at Oak Ridge Lutheran Church in Pennington Country, MN. Elaine attended rural grade school and graduated from Lincoln High school, class of 1962, in Thief River Falls, MN. After graduating high school Elaine lived and worked in Grand Forks ND for several years. On June 16, 1967 she was united in marriage to David Miller in Grand Forks, ND. The couple soon moved to the Thief River Falls area and had one son Wayne Miller (Thief River Falls, MN). Elaine lived in within the city of Thief River Falls and later on her family's farm in Norden Township. She worked as a secretary and homemaker for many years. In 1983 she completed her certification as a nursing assistant. Over the years she worked at various full and part time positions in the nursing field, which included periods of employment at Valley Home and Oakland Park nursing homes. Elaine retired from the nursing field in 2009. Elaine enjoyed flowers, gardening, creating floral designs and seasonal decorations. She was an avid fan of country music and enjoyed attending live concerts. Elaine's greatest character trait was her thoughtful caring for anyone in need; never hesitating to do whatever she could to comfort others. She also had a special love and compassion for animals throughout her life. She is survived by one son Wayne Miller of Thief River Falls, MN, former spouse David Miller of Viking, MN, and numerous friends and companions. She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Ida Ordahl and one sister, who died at birth, Lois Ordahl, special friend David Johnson, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
