Eldon Leroy Groven, 79, of Elk River, MN, formerly of Goodridge, MN, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at Beehive Homes, Elk River, MN.

On March 30, 1942, Eldon was born to Bennie and Lorraine (Nelson) Groven in Thief River Falls, MN.  He attended school in Goodridge, MN, graduating in 1960.  Eldon went to work at Honeywell.  In 1964, Eldon entered the United States Army, serving until June 25, 1966, when he was honorably discharged.  He returned to Honeywell following his service as a tool and die maker.

On April 6, 1968, Eldon was united in marriage to Fern Hanson at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN.  They lived in the Minneapolis area until moving to Elk River, MN, where they have lived since 1973.  He retired from Honeywell in 1998.

Visiting with friends and family was meaningful to him.  He enjoyed deer hunting and staying at Sherman's "Sugar Shack," fishing with friends and playing cards, watching westerns movies and sports (Minnesota Twins and Vikings).  Attending the Grandchildren's sporting events gave Eldon a lot of pride in his family.

Eldon is survived by his wife, Fern, Elk River, MN; daughter, Becky (Bob) Whittemore, Isanti, MN; son, Brian (Sarah), Pine Island, MN; grandchildren, Brandon Whittemore, Lori Whittemore, Nathan Whittemore, Kyle Groven, Cole Groven, and Connor Groven; sister-in-law, Jean Groven, Highlanding, MN.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Lorraine, and brother, Sherman.

Visitation : Monday, May 24, 2021, from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 6 PM in the Johnson Funeral Chapel, Thief River Falls, MN, and one hour prior to the service.

Funeral : 11 AM Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Faith Lutheran Church, Goodridge, MN.

Cemetery : Valle Cemetery, Trail, MN.
