Obituary

Eldon Harbott, 78, died on Sunday, August 5, 2007 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.


Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, August 10, 2007 at St. John Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Aaron Zuch officiating. Burial will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 9, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer service on Thursday evening and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Eldon Lowell Harbott was born on May 28, 1929 in Wylie, MN, the son of Ferd and Edna (Gother) Harbott. Eldon was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church and attended elementary school at Northrup in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1948. Following high school, he served in the National Guard for one year and then Eldon honorably served his country in the United States Navy from 1948-1952. He served aboard the USS Caloosahatchee. Eldon was united in marriage to Shelva Shelly Blazek on September 6, 1958 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush, MN. He started working for the Unites States Post Office in Thief River Falls, retiring after 31 years of service. He also worked as the gaming manager at the VFW in Thief River Falls for many years. Shelly and Eldon were also Foster Parents for ten years.

Eldon was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, American Legion and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing cards, music, dancing, and playing bingo. He loved his trips to the lake cabin where he enjoyed the nature and sunsets and loved spending time with his family.

Eldon is survived by his wife, Shelly of Thief River Falls, MN; three children, Crystal (Randy) Liden, Craig Harbott and Darcy (Jodi) Harbott, all of Thief River Falls, MN; five grandchildren: Erin Liden, Kelsey Liden, Ashley Harbott, Jordon Harbott, and Brady Harbott; one great granddaughter, Hailey Donarski; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Ferd and Edna Harbott; two brothers, Delbert (Thora) Harbott and infant brother, and father-in-law, Jerrie Blazek.
