Eldridge K. Tiny Stout, Jr. died on Monday, December 25, 2006 at Cypress Gardens, in Citrus Heights, CA.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 6, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Burial service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Eldridge Kinzel Stout, Jr. was born December 30, 1916 in Los Angeles, CA to Eldridge Kinzel and Daisy (Dougherty) Stout. In 1924, the family moved to Santa Monica, CA. In 1936 he graduated from Santa Monica High School. Tiny attended UCLA for one year. He then transferred to Pacific Coast University, where in 1940 he graduated with a degree in Architectural Engineering.
In May, 1942, Tiny was drafted by the United States Army. In May, 1943, he transferred to the United States Air Force. During his Air Force career he flew 30 combat missions during WWII, 30 combat missions during the Korean Conflict and participated in the Berlin Airlift. After continuing his college education in Meteorology, he became a weather officer in Roswell, NM, Sacramento, CA, Bermuda and Albany, GA. Tiny received an honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1963.
On March 13, 1954, Tiny was united in marriage to Beulah (Dahl) Stout in Las Vegas, NV. They moved to Sacramento in 1965. He worked for the Civil Service as a Meteorologist equipment repairman from 1965 to 1981. He was a member of the Air Force Retired Officers Association and also a member of the Cortez (Motor Home) National Club. In 1975 the Stouts sponsored the relocation of the Van and Hoa Nhan family from Vietnam to the United States. The Stouts continued to sponsor the Nhan children, Don, Tina, and Trang, through their college years. The Nhan family, as well as many of the neighborhood kids, consider the Stouts to be their adoptive parents.
He is survived by a sister, Mary Brunner, Burbank, CA; niece Kathryn Adair, Columbia, MO; nephew, Larry Brunner, Allentown, PA; and several great-nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Tiny was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Eldridge K. Stout, III, and his loving wife Beulah.
