Obituary

Eleanor Bradley, 89, of Thief River Falls, died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls.

Memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Oak Ridge Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, rural Thief River Falls, MN.

Eleanor Bradley was born on August 30, 1919 in Thief River Falls, MN to Carl and Anne (Skomedal) Christofferson. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and attended school in Thief River Falls. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1937. After graduating from high school Eleanor moved to Minneapolis and worked at Montgomery Ward for several years. Later she moved back to Thief River Falls and was employed at Owens Mercantile. She then worked full time at the family owned grocery store until her retirement. On August 20, 1979 she was united in marriage to Pete Bradley at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Eleanor was an avid reader, especially Christian novels, and enjoyed gospel music, playing Smear and Rummy with family and friends, gardening and tending to her flowers. She was a devoted member of Oak Ridge Lutheran Church, the WELCA, and was involved with the community birthday club. She served on the Oak Ridge Church council and cemetery board and was always a supporter of its youth. She will be remembered for her drive for life, her love of family, friends and her curious and gentle nature.

Eleanor is survived by a nephew, Gary Christofferson of Minneapolis, MN; niece Susan (Art) Knutson of Hudson, WI; sister-in-law Eleanor Christofferson of Thief River Falls; Irene (Richard) Strobel of California, Grace Bonawitz and Fern (James) Heifort of Moorhead, MN; brother-in-law Howard Bradley of St. Paul, MN; as well as numerous cousins, other family members, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Pete in 2007; siblings, Florence Frankenberger, Alvin Christofferson, Mable Christofferson, and Reuben Christofferson; and a niece Arlene Christofferson.
