Eleanor L. Christofferson, 97, of Thief River Falls, MN died on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 6, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Ale Tulu and Rev. John Golv officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Monday, June 6, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church.

Eleanor Louise Carlson was born on March 31, 1914 in Thief River Falls, MN to Anton and Marie (Sevre) Carlson.

She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls where she was a long time active member. For about the last 30 years she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.

She attended school in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1931. After graduation she worked for Thief River Wholesale Grocery and years later worked as a teller at Union State Bank.

On April 5, 1936 she married Alvin Christofferson. She and Alvin enjoyed spending many weekends at their cabin near Bemidji. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, watching Wheel Of Fortune and the Lawrence Welk Show.

Survivors include her son, Gary Christofferson of St. Paul, MN; special friends, Winton and Claudette Forsberg of Thief River Falls; and several other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Arlene; her parents; husband, Alvin; and brother, Wallace; and sister-in-law, Alice.
