Elizabeth Anne (nee Larson) Johnson was born January 30, 1949 in Wenatchee, Washington where her parents, Torjus and Francia (nee Magnuson) Johnson had moved to from Minnesota. Liz graduated from Goodridge High School in 1967 and attended Northridge Community College in Thief River Falls. In July 1969, she married James Larson of Roseau.
In July 1978, Liz was involved in a major motorcycle accident that resulted in her being paralyzed and in a wheelchair. With her faith, support from loved ones, and a lot of courage, Liz graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1985. Because of the Minnesota winters, Liz and daughters moved to Sacramento, California where she worked at the California Department of Justice. With the long-term effects of her accident worsening, she took early disability retirement. In 1994, Liz married William Hacker of Sacramento. After a few years in Missouri, Liz returned to North Dakota where she was residing at the Good Samaritan Society Home in Arthur.
Liz loved playing Scrabble and word games, singing and listening to music, and visiting with friends. She enjoyed witty conversation, eating lefse and potato dumplings, and putting jigsaw puzzles together. Her faith in God and religious beliefs were an integral part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Torjus and Francia Johnson of Grygla.
She is survived by her brother Cedric Johnson and his wife Brenda Johnson of Pequot Lakes, her sister Naomi Johnson and husband Earl Jacobs of Eureka, California, two daughters, Gwendolyn Larson of Portland, Maine, and Lorelei Larson Schreier and husband Daron Schreier of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and her husband William Hacker of Sacramento, California.
