Elizabeth Helen Herding, 83 of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Friday May 11, 2018 at Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN.

Funeral will be held at 5:00 PM Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Bob Schreiner Officiating presiding.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Elizabeth Helen Herding was born near New Effington, SD on June 14, 1934 to George Louis and Elizabeth Gertrude (Kinn) Kassa.  She was baptized in New Effington, SD and confirmed in Sisseton, SD.  Elizabeth attended school in Alma #4, a rural school near Hankinson, ND.  She spent 2 years of High School at Hankinson, ND.  She worked as a babysitter for neighbors and also helped on the farm.  Later she moved to Minneapolis, MN where she worked in a Restaurant.  She moved back to Wahpeton, ND working at State school of Science and also working in a restaurant.

On April 25, 1959 Elizabeth was united in marriage to Donald Herding in Hankinson, ND.

Elizabeth worked in Breckenridge at St. Francis Hospital for 6 years.  In 1965 Donald and Elizabeth moved to Red Lake Falls, MN where Liz worked at St. Johns Hospital for 25 years.  Donald and Elizabeth purchased Don's Drive Inn in 1988 and operated the restaurant until 1998 when she retired.

Elizabeth enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, flower gardening, baking, spending time doing genealogy and made over 400 Family Tree books, after she got her computer she loved to play solitaire.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church & Guild, Catholic Daughters, Legion Auxiliary, supported the wounded warriors, was a Den mother for Cub Scouts, and was an active blue lines member.

She is survived by her husband Donald Herding; children Veronica (Tracy) Anderson of St. Helena Island, SC, David (Shirley) Herding of Stillwater, MN, Beckie (Gary JR.) Pahlen of Red Lake Falls, MN; her Grandchildren Ben (Emily) Herding, Amber (Mike) Seeger, Matthew (Kathleen) Herding, Lukas Wavra, Jacob Wavra, Holly Wavra, Courtney Pahlen, Caleb Pahlen; Great Grandchildren Logan and Landon, Morgan and Grace, Emerie; brothers Don (Martha) Kassa of Bloomington, MN, Peter (Casey) Kassa of Hankinson, ND, Paul (Janelle) Kassa of Minneapolis, MN; sisters Cathy (Al) Janus of Bigfork, MN and Mary Keil of Manitowoc, WI; along with several nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; sisters Theresa Martin, Sister Antoinette Kassa, and Georgianna Schiltz; brothers Anthony Kassa, Joe Kassa, and George Kassa.
