Elizabeth Beth Skallet, 55, died on Thursday, December 1, 2005 at her home in Oklee, MN after fighting an 8 year courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral Service will be at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee, MN with Father John Kleinwachter presiding.
Elizabeth Mae Beth Brandt was born on March 27, 1950 in Crookston, MN, the daughter of Alfred "Curly" and Emma (Hince) Brandt of Oklee, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Beths mother died when she was ten years old and her father and siblings continued raising her. She attended Oklee Public School all but one year where she attended a parochial school in Minneapolis. Beth graduated from Oklee High School in 1968.
Beth was united in marriage, also at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, on June 8, 1968 to Larry Roger Skallet. The couple made their home in Oklee and Beth stayed at home raising their two children until they went to school. Once the girls were in school Beth started working. Her places of employment showed her many abilities. She worked at various places such as Melby's grocery, Bernier's Wood Products, Mr. Carrot, Oklee Quilting, apartment complex manager, school bus driver, truck driver for Oklee Elevator, courier (by motorcycle) for Security State Bank as well as wall papering, painting and wood finishing on the side.
Beth loved the City of Oklee and was very active in the community serving on the Oklee City Council, Oklee Community Club, a member of the American Cancer Society, Garden Club, Oklee American Auxiliary, Moonlighters Snowmobile Club and was on the Women's Bowling League. Beth enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling, camping and loved traveling. She was an excellent cook, loved decorating for all the holidays and enjoyed working in her flower garden and doing crafts. She also loved spending time with her grandkids.
Beth is survived by her husband, Larry of Oklee, MN; two daughters: Michelle (Loran Hanson) Markuson of Grand Forks, ND and Tammy (Randy) Doll of Grand Forks, ND; four grandchildren: Seth Markuson, Brandon and Kelsie Hanson and Jake Doll; four brothers: John (Jan Magnuson) Brandt of Burnsville, MN, William (Nancy) Brandt of Oklee, MN, Richard Brandt of Brooklyn, NY and Robert Brandt of Casper, WY; two sisters: Judy (Allen) Fournier of Shakopee, MN and Rosalyn (Kenny) Sorenson of Oklee, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gene.
