Obituary

Ella Johnson, 92, died on Friday, June 13, 2008 at MeritCare Hospital, Northwest Campus in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Oak Ridge Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Rena Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Landstad Cemetery, Sanders Township, Pennington County, MN.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service on Wednesday evening and also at the church for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Ella Marie Dimmen Johnson was born on January 29, 1916 in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Louis and Lena (Hegstrom) Dimmen. She attended Dimmen School for eight years.

She moved to Argyle, MN and worked for a farmer picking potatoes. She moved to Minneapolis where she worked for a Transit Company.

Ella was united in marriage to Berton Edwin Johnson in June of 1951 at a farm near Thief River Falls. Ella and Berton live and farmed near Thief River Falls. She worked at the Turkey Plant in the mid 1960s. They moved into Thief River Falls in 1969 and she began working for Arctic Cat. In the 1970s Ella worked at Valley Home as a Nurses Aid, retiring at the age of 75. Berton passed away on September 28, 1978.

Ella enjoyed yard work and at the first flake of snow, she would be shoveling. She loved working on the farm raking hay and doing farm work and Ella always had cookies and coffee ready for family and friends.

She was a member of Oakridge Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid and loved to go to dances at the Heritage Center and Grand Forks.

Ella is survived by two sons, Randy Johnson and Gary Johnson, both of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren: Renny, Jenny, Melissa, and Bradley Johnson and Christopher Johnson; great grandchildren: Tristan Owen and Seraphim Johnson; one brother, Glenn (Eloise) Dimmen of Dudley, GA; one sister, Mabel Andreson of Bemidji, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Berton; her parents; brothers and sisters: Selmer Dimmen, Leona Paulson, Clarence Dimmen, Lloyd Dimmen, Jimmy Dimmen, Clifford Dimmen, Ivan Dimmen and an infant sister, Gladys.
