Surrounded by her loving family, Ellen Langevin, age 70 of St. Hilaire, MN, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 24, 2014 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN. Interment will follow at St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery, Thief River Falls. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Friday, May 23, at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to her funeral service at the church on Saturday. Ellen Ethel (Larson) Langevin was born on January 5, 1944 in Rock Springs, WY, the daughter of Forrest and Ruth (Stenseth) Larson. At the age of 2, Ellen moved with her family to Thief River Falls, MN. Ellen's mother was later united in marriage to Norman Leader who, as her step-father, was a major influence in her life. She attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1962. On September 4, 1964 Ellen was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Mark Langevin in Thief River Falls. They made their home in St. Hilaire, MN, raising four wonderful children: Dennis, Tina, Velvet, and Mary. Over the years, Ellen was employed by Union State Bank and was a long-time, well known employee of K-Mart. Ellen loved going to her grandchildren's events and spending time with her family. Her favorite pastimes included playing bingo and going to the casino, where she enjoyed conversation with friends more than playing the games. She took pleasure in driving around the countryside looking for wildlife. Ellen is survived by her husband of 49 years, Mark of St. Hilaire, MN; children, Dennis (Beth) Langevin of Fargo, ND, Tina (Jeff) Spiering of St. Hilaire, MN, Velvet Langevin of Thief River Falls, MN, and Mary (Jim) Nephew of Red Lake Falls, MN; grandchildren, Kathryn Langevin, Alexander Langevin, Nick Spiering, Linzie Spiering, Justin (Heather) Nephew, Jonathan Scott, and Miquela Scott; brothers, Gary (Carol) Larson of Boise, ID, twin brother Laurence (Barb) Larson of Red Lake Falls, MN, and Robert Leader of Thief River Falls, MN; several nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. Preceding her in death are her mother and step-father, Ruth and Norman Leader; her father, Forrest Larson; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dennis and Doris Langevin.
