Ellsworth Milligan, (known to all of his friends as Penn Milligan) 97, of Seffner, FL, formerly of Plummer, MN died on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at he and his daughter's home in Florida under the care of hospice. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, December15, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, MN with Rev. Jonathan Dodson officiating. Burial will follow in the Emardville Cemetery, rural Plummer, MN. Visitation will be held from 4-7 on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Service in Oklee, MN with a Prayer Service at 6:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Thursday. Ellsworth Emmens Milligan was born on July 8, 1914 in Alden, Minnesota to John and Edna (Kelly) Milligan. He moved to Oklee, Minnesota with his parents in 1920. He attended country school in Garnes Township. On December 10, 1937 he married Ethel Pugh also from this area. He and Ethel lived near Plummer all of their married lives. They owned and operated a farm one mile east of Plummer for many years, raising cattle and sheep, always working together until 1994 when Ethel passed away. During those years he sheared sheep throughout North Dakota and Northern Minnesota. In the later years, he cut cord wood for sale and delivered stove wood to many residents in and around Plummer, Oklee, Red Lake Falls and Thief River Falls. He and Ethel also volunteered with Meals On Wheels for several years. In 2006, he moved to Florida where he resided with his daughter Sharon and her husband Terry Griffiths (now deceased). While living there, he still did volunteer work at Tools For Schools. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia "Pat" (husband Earl) Collins of Corpus Christi, Texas and Sharon Griffiths of Seffner, Florida. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Lance (wife Jeannie) Collins of Lexington, South Carolina and Lynn (husband Clark) Robertson of Jones Creek, Texas; Tracy (husband Joe) Griffith of Seffner, Florida and Ty (wife Jennifer) Griffiths of Tallahassee, Florida. He had 3 great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephen and Misty and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his lifelong partner Ethel, his parents John and Edna Milligan, 5 sisters Lillie Halverson, Blanche Sagen, Elinor Lieske, Eva Farrington, Charlotte Milligan and 1 brother Louis who died in infancy.
