Ellsworth "Ellsie" Senum, 77, of Karlstad, MN, formerly of Thief River Falls, MN passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM with a 5:00 PM Prayer Service on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.

The service to celebrate Ellsworth's life will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Westaker Free Lutheran Church in Newfolden, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Kevin Hall will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.

Ellsworth Odin Senum was born February 27, 1946 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Andrew Wilfred and Ilene Leona (Skadsem) Senum. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith and confirmed at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Ellsworth attended Northrop Elementary School, graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1964 and AVTI in Thief River Falls for Auto Mechanics. Ellsworth was lovingly known as Ellsie throughout his life.

On July 10, 1966, Ellsie was united in marriage to Clarice Tollefson at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. To this union three children were born, Kevin, Brenda and Kristi. They settled in Thief River Falls where Ellsie worked at Tunberg Motors, Westside Motors and had his own boat motor repair business. Later the family moved to Rosemont, MN, Park Rapids, MN and back to Thief River Falls in 2003. Ellsie then worked at National Transmission. He was a Certified Master Technician.

Ellsie was a wonderful husband, father, and dearly loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed camping with Clarice along the North Shore, watching Vikings games with his family, John Wayne Westerns and Sponge Bob with his grandchildren, and going out for supper, especially at Red Lobster for Shrimpfest.

Ellsie was very reliable, dependable and jack of all trades, there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. Ellsie had a quick wit and enjoyed sparring of the wits. He always liked dishing it out and he could take it, he was a good sport. Time spent with family was very special to Ellsie. At Easter gatherings he enjoyed coming up with games for his adult kids so the grandkids could get the better of their parents.

Ellsie was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls and currently enjoyed attending Westaker Free Lutheran Church in Newfolden.

Survivors include his loving wife, Clarice of Karlstad, MN; children, Kevin Senum of Holt, MN, Brenda (Jason) Pachel of Becker, MN and Kristi Hutmacher of Karlstad; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Misty), Mary Ellen, Linnea, Lisa, Andrew, Anika, Kyle (Chelsea), Bridgette "Biddsey" (Dan), Sophia, Isabella, Jacob, Matthew, Joshua; several great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jorgen (Debra) Tollefson; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and son-in-law, Mark Hutmacher.
