Elmer Holmstrom, 94, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.
Elmer Holmstrom was born June 28, 1910 in West Valley Township, Marshall County, MN, the son of John and Bertha (Lindstrom) Holmstrom. He grew up and attended Oak Ridge Country School.
On October 30, 1935, Elmer was united in marriage to Anna Viola Anderson in the Lutheran Parsonage at Englund Store. The couple farmed rented land until they purchased their own farm in 1941 and continued to farm until 1980. Elmer also worked construction doing carpentry and masonry, put in curb and gutters in Goodridge, MN and pipeline masonry at Humboldt, MN, and Thief River Falls. He also worked for Tri-Valley, redoing houses for people. The couple moved into Newfolden, MN in 1992. Elmer worked at mowing the yard at Senior Housing until he was 91 years old.
Elmer was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church. He was known for his attention to detail. He liked to fish, play cards, play Aggravation, wood-working and he liked to keep busy in general.
Survived by daughter, Carol (Richard) Thompson, Red Lake Falls, MN; 2 grandchildren, Nicole (Kirk) Sampson, Hugo, MN and Kari (Jack) Olson, Wayzata, MN; a great grandchild, Carter Sampson; sister, Judith Kleinvachter, Karlstad, MN; brother, Alvin Holmstrom, Karlstad, MN and special friend Evelyn Albaugh, Thief River Falls, MN.
Preceded in death by wife, Anna, September 23, 1995, parents, sister, Ellen Stromberg and brothers, Herbert and Ernest Holmstrom.
