Elmer L. Johnson, 96, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at Thief River Care Center, Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral service will be 10 AM, Saturday, February 3, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend George Davis officiating. Burial will be Monday, February 5, 2007 at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Elmer L. Johnson was born on Feb. 16, 1910 on the Family Farm in Rocksbury Township, the son of John and Alice (Nelson) Johnson who were pioneer emigrants from Sweden to the Thief River Falls area and homesteaded the family farm in 1897 just south of TRF on Highway 59. Elmer attended school in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School with honors. Following high school he attended and graduated from Dakota Business School in Fargo, ND. He entered the United States Army and served during World War II, and recieved an Honorabel Discharge. After the war Elmer worked on the farm until it was sold and he retired. In his retirement, he enjoyed following the weather and playing bingo.
Elmer is survived by his niece, Nancy Woodhouse and nephews, John Nelson and Charles Wherry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Ann Wherry and Clara Nelson; and his brothers Arthur, Nels Henry, and John Emil.
