Elmer Nelson, 74, died Monday, January 23, 2006 at his home in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be 1 PM, Friday, January 27, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, with Reverend Alemayehu Tulu officiating. Burial will be at the Viking Cemetery, Viking, MN.

Visitation will be 10 AM " 1 PM at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls before the service Friday.

Elmer Louis Nelson was born February 4, 1931 at Grand Forks, ND, the son of Martin and Martha (Kjemhus) Nelson. He grew up in Oslo, MN and attended school there as well. Elmer worked on a farm before moving to California where he lived for 28 years while working for the City of Los Angeles as a Heavy Equipment operator and street maintenance. He returned to Thief River Falls in 1990 to live with his brothers, Marvin and Lloyd on the farm. Elmer planned to retire this year.

Elmer enjoyed bowling in his years in California; he also enjoyed playing cards, guitar, and video games with his brother. He was an avid Ford Motor Driver, enjoyed watching the NFL on television, and watching stock car racing.

Elmer is survived by a sister, Marion (Herbert) Ladwig, Frazee, MN; brothers, Lloyd and Marvin Nelson, Thief River Falls, MN and several nieces and nephews.
