Elmer Rooker, 74, died Wednesday, January 03, 2007, at his home in St. Hilaire, MN.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Mark Helgeland officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Friday, January 5, 2007 at the Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Elmer James Rooker was born on August 23, 1932 to James and Hazel (Albaugh) Rooker in Drayton, ND. He grew up and attended school in Drayton, ND. He farmed with his Dad and worked on a turkey farm in his early years. He entered the US Army where he worked as track vehicle mechanic. He was honorably discharged on June 17, 1958.

Elmer was united in marriage to Clarice Srnsky on October 3, 1959 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. They made their home in the Rosewood area. Elmer farmed for many years, and worked for Sjolson Turkey for 6 years. He also worked at the turkey plant in Thief River Falls, and at HydraMac for 20 years.

Elmer enjoyed farming, woodworking, mechanics, and fixing small engines. He also enjoyed gardening, playing dominos, and putting puzzles together. He was a member of the Viking Town and Country Garden Club.

Elmer is survived by his wife Clarice, St. Hilaire, MN; 2 children Janeen (Ted) LaFriniere, Bemidji, MN; James (Rebecca) Rooker, Champlin, MN; 6 grandchildren: Rachel and Andrea LaFriniere, Jeremy, Zachary, Trevor, and Kyle Rooker, 1 brother Vernon (Darlene) Rooker, Grand Forks, ND; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
