Elmer Severson, 97, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Oakland Park Nursing Home, Thief River Falls, MN.
Elmer Severson was born October 3, 1907.
On January 4, 1933, Elmer was united in marriage to Gladys Linstad in Thief River Falls. The couple bought a farm in New Solom Township and operated it until 1943. They then moved to Thief River Falls, where Elmer became a carpenter. In 2003, Elmer and Gladys celebrated 70 years of marriage.
Elmer and Gladys were charter members of Our Saviours Lutheran Church. Elmer loved his work as a carpenter; he worked on many homes in Thief River Falls. He strongly supported and encouraged youth sports in Thief River Falls. One of Elmers pastimes was to reminisce about the old days, especially his work on the thrashing crews. He was 12 years old, when he first traveled to North Dakota to work on the harvest.
Survived by children, Richard (Caren), Stanley, ND, Ronald (Marnie), St. Paul, MN and Dennis, Denver, CO; grandchildren, Meredith Severson, Seattle, WA, Blythe (Paul) Hallinan, St. Paul, MN, Dean Severson, Rochester, MN and Byron Severson, Lincoln Park, NJ; great grandchildren, Conner and Riley Hallinan; sisters-in-law, Vivian Kosmatka of Forman, ND and Naomi Linstad of Auburn, CA.
Preceded in death by wife, Gladys, October 7, 2003, a daughter, Ardella in 1954, parents
