Elmo Lusignan, 95, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Erskine, MN.

Funeral service will be 11 AM, Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Gary Johnson officiating.

Visitation will be 5 " 8 PM, Friday, July 4, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to service at the church, Saturday.

Elmo Joseph Lusignan was born July 25, 1912 in Caribou Township, Lancaster, Minnesota. He was the oldest son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Mandeville) Lusignan. He was baptized and confirmed in Hallock, MN. Elmo attended school in Caribou, MN. He was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in rural Grygla and a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.

On April 21, 1945, Elmo married Adeline Stavenes. The couple purchased the family farm where they raised grain, dairy, and registered polled Herefords. In 1958 they moved to Grygla, MN. where they farmed and Elmo worked at Arctic Cat. In 1978, the couple retired and moved to Thief River Falls where he worked as a Service Technician for Evergreen Implement and farmed with Kenneth Berg.

Elmo was a member of the township board, a charter member of the Grygla Lions Club, and served on the Grygla School Board for many years.

Elmo is survived by his wife, Adeline of Thief River Falls, MN; children, Duane (LuAnn) of Thief River Falls, MN, Loren (Glenyce) of Grygla, Jade (David) Rude and Diane (Todd) Sundby of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Jill (Brad) Buck, Tracy (Joel) Hallstrom of Thief River Falls, MN, Jay (Molly) Lusignan of Elk River, MN, Brent (Sara) Lusignan of Bemidji, MN, Karla (Brent) King of Mankato, MN, and Kyle Lusignan of Clearbrook, MN, Rachel Rude of Hitterdal, MN, Jennifer (Dan) Berggren of Roseau, and Sara (Josh) Leatherwood of Grand Forks Air Force Base, ND; great-grandchildren, Chase and Cali Lusignan of Elk River, MN, Samantha Jo and Emily Buck, Gabrielle and Jesse Hallstrom of Thief River Falls, MN, and Haily Leatherwood of Grand Forks Air Force Base, ND; brother, Zefere (Doreen) of Shakopee, MN; sister, Barnedith Vick of Clovis, NM; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clifford; sisters, Georgina Boisner, Rosella Braun, and Rosanna Melby.
