Elona Moen, 65, of Newfolden, MN, died Friday, July 3, 2009 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden, MN with Pastor John Golv officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 P.M. on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be in Spruce Valley Cemetery, Middle River, MN

Elona Elizabeth (Anderson) Moen was born May 11, 1944 to Frank and Harriet Anderson in Huntley Township, Marshall County near Middle River. The only daughter of 9 children, she was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church and graduated from Middle River High School in 1962. On December 14, 1963, Elona was united in marriage to Gerald M. Moen in Middle River. Together they made their home in Minneapolis for a short while before moving to Newfolden. Elona worked and held several positions at Arctic Cat for over twenty years. She was a loving homemaker who raised 2 children. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and was involved in the Ladies Aid. She also taught Sunday school earlier in life. Elona enjoyed reading, sewing, spending time in her flower beds and the colors and smells of autumn. She was fond of traveling and regularly having lunch with her daughter Beth. Leona also was a life long fan of Elvis and his music. She loved her family and friends and most of all loved her two grandchildren Sterling and Rylen. She will be remembered for her kind spirit and will be greatly missed.

Elona is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years Gerald; daughters Beth (Stacy) Hutchinson of Thief River Falls Darcene (Chris) Burgess of Cavalier, ND; 2 grandchildren Rylen and Sterling Burgess; brothers, Earl (Jan) Anderson of Stephen, MN, Wallace Wally Anderson of Strathcona, MN, James (Alice) Anderson of Rapid City, SD, Richard (Sylvia) Anderson of Edgewater, MD, Lowell (Pat Boucher) of Keller, TX and Brian (Brenda) Anderson of Palm Bay, FL; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


She is preceded in death by her mother and father Frank and Harriet Anderson and 2 brothers, Robert and Gordon Anderson.
