Emma C. Mack Goodridge, MN, age 92 died on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Hillcrest Senior Living in Red Lake Falls, MN. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will be held at the Goodridge Community Cemetery near Goodridge, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM time of sharing on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Sunday at the church. Emma Camellia Johnson was born October 10, 1920 on the family farm in Moylan Township, Marshall County, MN the youngest of nine children born to Peter Adolph and Bertha (Bagne) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran church. As a young teen at Christmas she enjoyed a tradition of "Christmas Fooling" which meant dressing in masquerade fashion, playing tricks and horse-drawn sledding to each other's homes with goodies served at each home sometimes arriving at 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning. At the age of 13 years old, Emma cooked for her brother, Arthur who was a single farmer and later worked for various farmers doing housework and cooking. She attended Mayflower Country School in Moylan Township and grades 8-12 in Goodridge High School graduating in 1939. Emma was united in marriage to Orvis Olson on January 23, 1943 by Pastor Tungseth. They farmed in different locations and later moved to the Goodridge, MN area when Orvis worked on farms and drove school bus. Their daughter Brenda was born on May 2, 1947. Emma started working at the Sanatorium in Thief River Falls and then worked as a nurse's aide at Northwest Medical Center where she worked for 20 years. She enjoyed the work and the satisfaction it gave. Orvis died on September 24, 1971. Emma continued to live in Goodridge until she married Donald Mack on August 7, 1995. The couple made their home on a farm in rural Oklee, MN. They enjoyed traveling and made several long trips. Donald died on November 10, 2004. She then moved to Minnesota Greenleaf Assisted Living in Thief River Falls and for the last three years has lived at Hillcrest Senior Living in Red Lake Falls, MN. More than anything, she enjoyed time spent with her grandsons, including, Erik's music and baking with Adam. She so appreciated her son-in-law, Wayne who continued to be like a son after her daughter, Brenda died on March 8, 2000. Emma was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN where she a Sunday School teacher and active with the Ladies Aide. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Thief River Falls. Emma's special interests included gardening, crocheting, visiting with neighbors, friends and family, camping, and traveling including trips to California, Washington, Florida and Norway. Emma was known for her good sense of humor and she never complained. Survivors include her son-in-law, Wayne Eickhoff of Chatfield, MN; grandsons, Erik Eickhoff of West Hartford, CT and Adam (Andrea) Eickhoff of Chatfield, MN; great-granddaughter, Ali Jean Eickhoff; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Orvis and Donald; daughter, Brenda; and siblings, Julia (Joseph) McCoy, Elmer (Alice) Johnson, Arthur (Gladys) Johnson, Albert (Gladys) Johnson, Gladys (Gunder) Grovum, Oscar (Eleanor) Johnson, Benhart (Mildred) Johnson, and Johnnie (Pearl) Johnson.
