A Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Strandquist Community Center, Strandquist, MN. The family would also like to extend an invitation to anyone who would like to accompany them in bringing Richard to his final resting place near his home immediately following the gathering at 5:00 PM.

Richard was united in marriage to Mary Anne Cournoyer on July 10, 1971. The couple was blessed with two children: Jason and Amy. They made their home in Strandquist and later in Forest Lake. Richard moved back to Strandquist after retirement.

Richard was an avid hunter and antique gun collector. Richard never missed a deer hunting season. He spent many years raising Arabian horses. He also enjoyed playing cards and was a dedicated Vikings, Gophers, and Minnesota Twins fan.

Richard will be remembered for his sense of humor and socializing with friends and family over a cup of coffee. Many hours were spent joking and laughing while numerous pots of coffee were brewed.

He is survived by his children, Jason (Lorraine) Haraldson and Amy (Peter) Koegel; sister, Dolly (Chris) Johnson; grandchildren, Tyler, Hannah, Jared, and Isabel; brother in law, Al Monson; niece and nephews, Brett, Mark, Nikki, Carson, and Jamie.
