Ernest Ekman, 91, died Thursday, May 1, 2003 at the Karlstad Health Care Center, Karlstad, MN.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at the Evangelical Free Church, Newfolden, MN with Reverend Gary Barrett officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Newfolden, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Ernest Ekman was born on October 10, 1912 on the Family Farm in New Folden Township, Marshall County, Minnesota to Nils and Mary Helen (Berg) Ekman. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian Faith at the Mission Free Church and attended school in Newfolden. He stayed to work on the Family Farm, where he farmed his entire life. Art never worked on a Sunday, because it is a day of rest.

He loved to feed the deer in his back yard for years.

He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden.

Ernest is survived by one brother Cecil Ekman of St. Louis, MO; one sister: Hazel (John) Ristau of Thornton, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Walter Ekman, Oscar Ekman, and Arthur Eckman; and four sisters, Clarice Donarski, Irene Jansen, Myrtle McKivor, and Inga Ekman.
