Obituary
Ernest Landsrud, 91, died Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Hillcrest Senior Living, Red Lake Falls, MN
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN with Rev. Joseph Abrahamson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Petri Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Saturday, November 19, 2011 with a 5:00 PM Prayer Service at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Sunday at the church.
Ernest Olger Landsrud was born on November 18, 1919 on the family farm in Veldt Township, Marshall County, MN the son of Austin and Bertha (Buck) Landsrud.
He was baptized at St. Petri Lutheran Church near Grygla, MN and confirmed as an adult in 1958 at St. Petri Lutheran Church. Ernest attended the Veldt School in Veldt Township through the 8th grade.
On October 24, 1945 Ernest was united in marriage to Joyce Eileen Brateng in Grygla, MN. They lived for a short time with his parents, and in 1946 they purchased the Landsrud family farm in Eckvoll Township. Together they ran a dairy farm and raised their son, Don. Ernest enjoyed his years on the farm. He was a very capable operator of his dairy farm.
In his early years, Ernest enjoyed playing baseball with the Grygla team. In his later years, Ernest enjoyed fishing with his Son and Grandsons.
Ernest was a lifelong member of St. Petri Lutheran Church; he also served many years on the Eckvoll Township Board.
For those who knew Ernest, they respected him for what he was.
Survivors include his son, Don Landsrud of Gully, MN; three grandsons, Rob (Shawna) Landsrud of Benson, MN, Rick (special friend, Jodi Wahl) Landsrud of Greenbush, MN, and Reid (Kashia) Landsrud of Mentor, MN; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Elle , Garrett, William Billy , Teagan, Sierra, and Vincent; great-great granddaughter, Josie; and many relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce in 2002; parents; siblings, Alvin, Edith, and Vernon.
