Erwin Weiss, 88, of Red Lake Falls, MN, died on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at his Lake Pleasant Township home.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 29, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Bill DeCrans Officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery near his home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Erwin was born on the farm to his parents David and Anna (Purath) Weiss on October 17, 1927. He attended Perrault School, a one room school house until 8th grade, then attended Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls.
He married Lucille Page of Red Lake Falls on December 28, 1950 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls. They moved into the family farm where he lived his entire life. This past December they celebrated 65 years of married life. Together they raised 7 children on the family farm. He worked at American Crystal Sugar Co. and was on the Board of Directors at Plummer Creamery for several years. He was also a Lake Pleasant Township Officer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching westerns on TV, and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife Lucille and 7 children. Bonnie (Jerry) Svir, Sandy (Bill) Eggebroten, David Weiss, Ron (Sharon) Weiss, Randy Weiss, Linda (Carlos) Moreno and Dana Weiss. Thirteen grandchildren; Helene Danielson, Tracy Third, Michael Svir, Jen, Tim, Camille, and Andrew Eggebroten, Shelby, Kristen, Sara, and Matt Weiss, Christina and Rico Moreno. Seven Great Grandchildren; Atlie and Etta Danielson, Cole and Cody Vatnsdal, Axton and Beckett Svir and August Barbero. Sisters Jean Johnson, Marjory Lindsay, and Betty Seibel.
Preceded in death by his parents and sister Dorothy Pederson.
