Esther Alice (Gregoire) St. Michel was born on April 9, 1916 in Red Lake Falls, MN the daughter of Wilfred & Zaphrina (Peppin) Gregoire. She grew up and attended school in Dorothy, MN. Esther married her husband Eli St. Michel on November 15, 1937 in Dorothy. Eli and Esther lived in a boxcar after being married. They lived in Huot, MN for a few years before moving their herd of cattle to a farm south of Dorothy. They farmed in the Dorothy area until their retirement in 1965, and then moved into Dorothy. There she lived until moving to Red Lake Falls where she lived at Sun Set Court and finally at Hillcrest Nursing Home. Esther was an avid quilt maker. She loved her flower beds. Music and dancing were a favorite past time. She really enjoyed her cats. One of Esther's favorite saying was "oh, come on!" Esther is survived by: Many nieces, nephews and cousins Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Eli on October 13, 1980 and 2 sisters Helen (Cliford) Dargon of Walnut Creek, CA and Irene (Edward) Root of St. Paul, MN / Mesa, AZ. Esther St. Michel, 97, of Red Lake Falls (lifelong resident of Dorothy), died Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Red Lake Falls, MN at the age of 97 years, 2 months and 13 days.
