Esther Grandbois was born December 20, 1906 in Red Lake County, MN the daughter of Felix and Elizabeth (Gedde) Grandbois. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Marys Catholic Church, Red Lake Falls, MN. Esther graduated St. Hilaire High School and completed Normal Teachers Training in Red Lake Falls where she taught at the District 4 Delorme School.
On January 3, 1929 she was united in marriage to Florio Page in Gentilly, MN. The couple made their home in Red Lake County where they continued to reside their entire lives. Esther worked at Hillcrest Nursing Home for 10 years and at the Senior Craft Shop in Red Lake Falls.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, raising flowers, traveling, reading, listening to music, visiting her friends and neighbors, and especially enjoyed her grandchildren, they were her pride and joy. She made each grandchild a baby blanket when they were born and a quilt when they graduated from high school. Esther had said, Faith, Family, Friends, and Folgers kept her going.
Esther was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, St. Josephs Guild, Hillcrest Auxiliary, Lake Pleasant Homemakers Club where she was a life member, and had been recognized as Red Lake County Senior Citizen of the Year.
Survivors include 11 children, Vernon Page, Farmington, MN, Genevieve (Howard) Hanson, Silver Lake, WA, Lucille (Erwin) Weiss, Red Lake Falls, MN, Dorothy (Jay) Grover, Kelso, WA, Darlene Pollard, Sacramento, CA, Shirley Konikson, Sioux Falls, SD, Larry (Karen) Page, East Grand Forks, MN, Carol (Jack) Bechly, Woodland, WA, Diane Page, East Grand Forks, MN, Darrell Page, East Bethel, MN, and Allan (Pam) Page, Red Lake Falls, MN; 36 grandchildren; 70 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; sister, Mary Grundhaus, Thief River Falls, MN; sisters-in-law, Harriet Grandbois, Thief River Falls, MN, Albina Grandbois, Cudahy, WI, and Doris Christianson, Fosston, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by husband, Florio in 1992; brothers, Ralph, Paul and James; sisters, Alice and Lucy; granddaughter, Verna Page; one grandson; and one great granddaughter, Sarah Pollard.
