Obituary

Esther Rollinger, 96, died on Thursday, September 14, 2006 at Northwest Medical Center, CNC Unit, Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with Father Tim McGee officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, September 15, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN and one hour prior to service at the Funeral Home on Saturday.

Esther Mabel Hetland was born September 15, 1909 at Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Abraham and Maria (Gaasland) Hetland. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls. Esther attended Washington and Central schools, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1928. She moved to the Twin Cities and worked in Minneapolis for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in the downtown office and then moved to Chicago, IL, where she was employed for Dominics as checking clerk and then worked for Mystic Tape and the Government.

On August 28, 1942, Esther was united in marriage to John Rollinger at New York City, NY. The couple lived in Chicago. In 1967, John passed away and in 1982, Esther returned to Thief River Falls and retired.

Esther enjoyed animals and her dogs over the years. She had a love for traveling and was always on the go! She loved to shop and eat out. She was lovingly known to many as Dedda. She enjoyed music and visiting with family and friends.

Esther is survived by sisters: Betty Lou Peterson, Thief River Falls, MN and Lillian Von Schneeweis, Los Angeles, CA, many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law: Helen Hetland.

She was preceded in death by husband, John; parents; brothers: Torleif, Lue, Roy and Clifford Hetland; sisters: Helga Parker, Lucille Myhrer and a sister, Pearl in infancy.
