Ethel Anderson, 90, died Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at Innovis Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Funeral service will be 2 PM, Saturday, October 7, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with Reverend Mark Kukkonen officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be 4 " 7 PM, Friday, October 6, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service and for one hour prior to service Saturday.

Ethel Mae Finley was born September 30, 1916 at Tekamah, NB, the daughter of Charles Homer and Ida Elizabeth (Farrens) Finley. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Ethel grew up and moved to the Moose River area with her family as a young girl. She attended Northwood Country School in Grygla.

On October 7, 1933, Ethel was united in marriage to Ben A. Anderson at Grygla, MN. The couple farmed in rural Grygla. They moved to Thief River Falls in 1957. She was employed at the turkey plant at Thief River Falls and then at Arctic Cat in the parts department for many years until retiring at age 62.

Ethel loved to cook and bake and enjoyed growing many varieties of flowers and vegetables. She especially loved her grandchildren and always sent cookies home with them anytime they visited her.

Ethel is survived by daughters, Arlene (Ron) Swenson, Thief River Falls, MN and Sharon (Larry) Johnson, Thief River Falls, MN; 4 grandchildren, Reverend Rory (Beth) Swenson, Brainerd, MN, Randy Swenson, Moorhead, MN, Lynn (Mike) Sommars, Payson, AZ and Carrie (John) Hendrickson, Mankato, MN; 10 great grandchildren, Jason, Josh, Nick and Sarah Swenson, Sierra, Kyja and Laci Sommars, Dana and Nicolette Pilon and Christina Hendrickson; brother, Eugene Finley, Thief River Falls, MN; sister-in-law, Edna Finley, Roseau, MN and special friend, Doris Stromberg.

She was preceded in death by husband, Ben in 1996; 2 infant sons; parents; sister, Gladys Tveit and brothers, Emmett and John.
